Canada Language Study

Live it to learn it.

A total immersion in the English language and Canadian culture.

Homestay Description

The homestay at Canada Language Study is a three-bedroom full basement house. The main floor bathroom is shared and there is a second bathroom downstairs. Each student bedroom has individual heat control (electric baseboard) and a DVD and video player for watching movies plus a radio and tape recorder. A cozy stove that burns wood in the winter provides the setting for a comfortable sitting area downstairs in the student lounge. E-mail access to keep in touch with family and friends is available.

Healthy living at the CLS homestay includes 100% organic food, some from neighbouring organic farms, and good indoor air quality based on the healthy houses building design.

This is a non-smoking and no alcohol  household. Smoking is not allowed anywhere at anytime.

A vegetable garden and natural landscaping are next to the house. CLS has 20 hectares of natural forest - trees, wildflowers, a creek and wildlife - lots of open space.  Nature trails start right from the house. A private trail leads to a lovely creek-side path with all wild plants. Wild flowers bloom in the spring, some with lovely scents. Wildlife lives on the property birds, squirrels and deer. Deer sightings are occasional but not guaranteed! Deer tracks are common in the winter.

This is a great area for outdoor recreation such as gardening, nature walks, cycling and nighttime stargazing. You will have a bicycle to cycle the level country roads to the Shuswap River or just to see the countryside and go past neighboring organic farms or you can wade in the river.

CLS homestay is located on the left edge of this picture. This is the neighborhood you can explore. The Shuswap River flows north.

When the sky is clear, it is full of stars. Constellations of stars are easy to see, as there are hardly any other lights at night. You can't do this in the city! In winter, you can snowshoe right from the back door in the winter wonderland! Recreation provides relaxation from intensive study for a healthy and balanced life.

To explore the area, use your computer mouse and click and drag on the map at the right. You will see the marker on the Canada Language Study property. Move the computer mouse to the right of the map to find Meadowview Road and then Riverbend Road to the Shuswap River. You can walk and cycle these level, straight country roads when you are a student here.
